Boxabl Homes – the future of sustainable living is one of the most significant life choices many of us make. It often involves a huge mortgage that takes years to pay off, not to mention all the other expenses associated with home construction like buying land, getting permits, connecting utilities, and even laying down the foundation.
A startup called Boxabl has created an incredible innovation that could revolutionize the way we build homes. They have a prototype called the Casita that is essentially a foldable home that you can unpack in about an hour at your site. These homes are made from high-quality materials and are built and shipped flat. This dramatically cuts down on shipping costs and labor. They are also resistant to bugs, water, mold, and fire.
To give you a better idea of how these amazing homes work, the team at Boxabl let me try out their model. I was able to watch the entire process unfold from start to finish, it’s really quite impressive. First the outer wall folds down into a floor, then the two side walls unfold and finally the roof. It’s all very easy to do and does not require any special equipment or tools.
The company has raised over $3 million in venture capital and is expanding their factory to keep up with demand. As more people adopt innovations like this, the housing landscape will be forever changed. It’s a massive gamble, but if they succeed, the potential is tremendous.
